Jimmy and I at Relay for Life IKEA Redhook, picture taken by News 12 Brooklyn. Relay for Life was an event filled with joy, emotion, tears and celebrations. This was my first time attending a Relay for Life fund raising event since I've lost my buddy Maureen 'MOE' Henry. Her friends and family called her Green Eyes and we at the Victory Outreach North Brookyn Church where she attended we called her Moe-Love. Moe was a mother of four beautiful girls and came from a loving large family. Her sister Kim who was her care giver in Moe's final days became committed to honor her memory and became an active organizer for Relay for Life. I loved the Birthday celebration at the tent where there was a table filled with donated Birthday Cakes to honor another year of life for the survivors of cancer. The survivors and their care-givers marched to the main gathering grounds escorted by a youth marching band and received medals and ribbons. It was all so moving, I found myself applauding one minute and crying the next minute. IKEA went above and beyond in their support, donations and work to raise awareness and raise funds for Cancer research towards a cure. Thank you news 12 for covering this great event and for the picture of 'THE MORALES'S". I'm looking forward the next event that Kim Henry will organize on Sept. 11, 2010 which is the Maureen Henry walk of Hope in Sunset Park Brooklyn where we grew up.
