Autumn Picnic in Brooklyn
As I was checking on my last post I couldn't believe that the summer flew by so quickly and I didn't get to do very much this Summer season but hooray here comes the Fall/Autumn and there is HOPE. I love the fall colors, the sent in the air and FOOTBALL SEASON and last but not lease the up and coming HOLIDAYS.
This Sunday my church Victory Outreach North Brooklyn is having a Harvest Picnic right after service in the beautiful little park in Greenpoint McGloric Park on Monitor and Driggs ave. I know we are going to have the best time ever because that's just how we roll, Fun,Fellowship and Food. We just all love each other so much and are Christ minded. www.vonorthbrooklyn.org
McGloric Park is a beautiful little Green Jewel in Greenpoint and I go there often when I am going to spend time with my Grandsons. The area is nicknamed Little Poland and all the Deli's small so great with Polish delicacies. Then you also have the Italian flavor and great Pizzerias, I love to go to Nina's Pizza.
McGloric Park also has a wonderful Farmers market on Sunday so needless to say we are picking up some of our picnic goodies from there. http://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/mcgrmcgolrickpark/
Hooray for Autumn in BROOKLYN.

MARTY IS LOOKING TO MOVE
Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz was catching a lot of summertime heat last summer for his Seaside Summer Concert series at Asser Levy Park. Complaints of noise codes and the use of cheap labor Rikers inmates had the locals not in a concert celebrative mood.
Well it turns out that the Concerts are being moved to the Coney Island section of West 21st Street parking lot that Ringling Bros. has used in the past. This might turn out to be an expensive move but the Asser Levy Park neighbors will celebrate with "quiet" space.

Luna Park Coney Island 2010
These are just a few of the great shots taken by my friend Frankie Nieves on the Grand Opening Day of Luna Park CI. Everyone is so excited and I look forward to bringing my own pics to the Blog soon ;I'll be bringing my grandsons with me when I go. I love the way they gave honor to the Original Luna Park of days gone by. I don't remember Luna Park but I do remember Steeple Chase park when I was very young and the Parachute structure still stands to this day which was a part of the Steeple Chase park.
Well,I am wishing everyone the best Summer filled with fun, joy, laughter and safety.
I'll be bck soon with more pics till then, can everyone say Weeeeeee and Whoo Hooo.

Brooklyn Romance

So, it's Valentine's Day already; 2010 is showing to be a fast pace year already. My hope for all my Brooklynites is that you will be surrounded by your loved ones and enjoy each other's company. Tell you family and significant other that you love them and show it everyday. LOVE is a verb. Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of these is Love.

LIGHTEN UP BROOKYN

I did it, I went to City Hall to be a part of the LIGHTEN UP BROOKLYN WALK. I had the chance to meet wonderful people and walk with Marty Markowitz. They gave us Tee-shirts and a bottle of water and now I have the awesome task of putting together a walk team. Looking forward to improving my health and making new friends and enjoying Brooklyn like I always do. I LOVE BROOKLYN (Marty is not the only cheerleader for Brooklyn, but he is the best and does his best) and I appreciate him for that. Way to go Marty.

GRAHAM AVE. STREET FAIR

The Graham Ave. Street Fair was a great success as usual. Always jammed packed with wonderful vendors, and great displays and merchandise. Delectable foods and exciting entertainment. There was one missing ingredient, our very own Ambassador to Williamsburg Betty, who had emergency surgery but still ran a tight ship even from her bed rest. The highlight for me was Mr. Boro President himself........Mr. Brooklyn...Marty Markowitz. He shared a few encouraging words with the merchants and residents of Williamsburg/Woodhull,Graham Ave. BID and then was off to the Coney Island Area. Before leaving he spoke to as many people as possible and even stopped for a few photos. I was extremely excited to meet and greet Mr. Markowitz and blessed that he took the time to take a photo with my Church one of the organizations represented in the FAIR. Our tent was pitched early, My husband and myself arrived by 8:00am to secure a great spot. The weather was great to us, it was a wonderful fair the beginning of many exciting events that will be held in the Williamsburg area.
Be Back soon with more event reports, pics and news.

My Brooklyn

As of today, I am dedicating this site to BROOKLYN, my town. My other site will still have the updates on my book Teapot Blessings by Cooky Morales available at Lulu.com.
But back to Brooklyn. I know that there are many others that do Brooklyn Blogging; I'm
bringing it the perspective and eyes of a Latina Baby Boomer.
That's me CookyLaBabyBoomer. The first thing I want to share with you is the great pic with me and Mr. Brooklyn himself, Marty Markowitz. We were at the Graham Ave. Street Fair. Brooklyn is all about their street fairs in the good old Summer Time.
I'll try to catch as many street fairs as possible throughout the summer and post them, Oh what a sacrifice, what hard hard work...sign ;-).
